Your State Parks Day (09.26.15)

Sep 26, 2015
Participating Park locations

Free admission in exchange for volunteering is coming up! Friends is sponsoring Your State Parks Day on September 26, 2015 in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. Grab your work gloves and your gardening shovels and help us plant pollinator gardens across the state!

Pollination is a keystone process in our ecosystems and is critical for our food production. We depend on our pollinators to keep our parks beautiful! Unfortunately, our country has seen a significant decline in pollinator populations so we decided to join the solution.

Friends is partnering with US Fish and Wildlife, North American Butterfly Association (NABA), Fernbank Science Center, Monarchs Across Georgia, AT&T, The Home Depot and the Department of Natural Resources to bring pollinator garden’s to Georgia’s state parks and historic sites. Friends will be planting over 40 gardens across Georgia to encourage a spread of healthy pollinators in our communities.  You and your whole family are encouraged to join us in learning about our key pollinators as we plant our demonstrator gardens and join national efforts in restoring monarch populations.  These gardens are fun, beautiful, and easy!

Join us on September 26 and find out how you can build pollinator habitats in your own yards.  We look forward to seeing you there!
