Norcross, GA

Confucius once said, “study the past if you would define the future,” and at the city of Norcross they are taking special account of its history with a Cemetery Tour of the restored grounds of the Norcross City Cemetery on December 12 at 10 a.m. Tour is free and will start at the cemetery pavilion, complimentary hot chocolate will be provided.  RSVP is encouraged, please email angie.luna@norcrossga.net.

Tour guide Gene Ramsay will tell of the life and times of a number of Norcross area residents of years past, including:
Edward Buchanan, with his rags-to-riches to rags story at the beginning of the 20th century
The young boy shot down in a crossfire in the Civil War and others who survived the conflict and helped build the town and state
Former mayors who died early deaths due to tuberculosis in one case and a shotgun in another
Beloved teachers, including the Vermont native who ran a Norcross high school for many years, and a music teacher with high standards
Major league baseball players who are still record-holders today (though not of records one might really want)
Citizens who built some of the stately homes that give the City its historic character and many others
