On Tuesday, November 17th, Global Growers is hosting our 4th annual cocktail party fundraiser A Toast to the Culture in Agriculture at Makan restaurant from 6pm-8pm in Decatur, GA. Each year, this party celebrates the many cultures that make up our uniquely local agriculture – the food, the farmers, the chefs, along with their diverse stories and incredible palette of flavors.
For this year’s event, Global Growers farmers are partnering with the culinary team at Makan Restaurant & Bar to highlight South Asian food cultures with a traditional Asian Pig Roast from Riverview Farms. The Makan team will be joined by Chefs Savannah Haseler of Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards, Jessica Hanners from Souper Jenny, Germaine Appel from SoulShine Sprouts, along with Global Growers Network farmers to highlight the heritage and cuisine from countries such as Burma, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, and, of course, the American South.
The event will feature bountiful food tastings, craft beer from Second Self Beer Company, signature cocktails featuring Old Fourth Distillery, a photo exhibit, and a special surprise. Proceeds from the event will be support Global Growers’ work to connect new American families to land, education, and markets in the Atlanta area.
