Weekends were made for this! On Saturday, September 19, Shake Shack will unveil its latest culinary collaboration in Atlanta: the Carpetbagger Burger, crafted by renowned restaurateur and chef Ford Fry and Shake Shack Culinary Director Mark Rosati.

Inspired by carpetbagger steak—a classic 1950s dish that works oysters into a hefty cut of steak—the Carpetbagger Burger ($8.50) is a butter-grilled double cheeseburger made with Shake Shack’s 100 percent all-natural Angus beef and topped with smoked and caramelized onions, house-made pickles, Comeback sauce and a crispy fried oyster. Aw shucks!

“Looking at the chef partners that Shake Shack has paired with in the past to create collaborative burgers, I’m super flattered to be asked,” said Fry. “I look forward to hanging out at Shake Shack and bringing something awesome to the Atlanta community.”

Since opening his first restaurant JCT. Kitchen & Bar in 2007, Chef Fry has built a dining empire of some of Atlanta’s most iconic restaurants including Marcel, The El Felix, Superica, no. 246, The Optimist and Oyster Bar, King + Duke and St. Cecilia. Over the years, Fry and his restaurants have been lauded in numerous national and local publications including Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, Chicago Tribune, Cooking Light, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Esquire, Food & Wine, Garden & Gun, Sky, Southern Living and the Washington Post.

“At Shake Shack, we’re constantly drawing upon our fine dining roots to tap into the local food scenes of our Shack communities,” said Rosati. “Chef Fry is one of Atlanta’s most celebrated culinary hometown heroes with a flair for soulful, downright delicious cooking, and we’re honored to team up with him to bring this incredible burger to our Buckhead Shack.”

Shake Shack’s collaboration with Fry marks Shake Shack’s one-year anniversary in the city’s newest luxury retail, residential and office development in the heart of Atlanta’s vibrant Buckhead neighborhood. As a part of its mission to Stand For Something Good®, Shake Shack has embraced the Atlanta community through partnerships with local charities and schools including Camp Twin Lakes and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), as well as nearby bakers and food purveyors including Cacao Atlanta, H&F Bread Co., Sublime Doughnuts and Monday Night Brewing.

Exclusively offered at the Buckhead Shack on Saturday, September 19, only 200 limited-edition Carpetbagger Burgers will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Get ‘em while the griddle’s hot!
