Join us to experience the interactive setting Los Trompos on the Sifly Piazza with The Atlanta Opera’s performance of Toperoke!

The Atlanta Opera is dedicated to producing quality opera for all ages, enriching lives through the power of this special art form. Always looking for unique ways to bring opera into the community, they have created a distinctive kind of performance piece for Los Trompos.

Treating the structures as performance spaces, singers will be stationed inside and around several tops across the piazza. They will invite individual audience members to select an aria they would like to hear as an intimate serenade, performed for the people in the immediate vicinity. The singers will offer works by composers ranging from Gluck to Gershwin; several of the artists will offer songs in Spanish by de Falla, Montsalvatge and Torroba, paying tribute to the native tongue of Los Trompos designers Esrawe and Cadena.

The use of karaoke-style pre-recorded accompaniment created especially for this event gives the inspiration for the name of the performance: tops, opera, karaoke = Toperoke!
