Working with a cast of skilled performers, Jonathan Bouknight has created the film Nightingales, a durational meditation on one’s continual reach for ideals beyond physical limitations. Themes of metamorphosis, beauty, desire, and failure are explored within the earnest attempts of the performers to become something more than themselves. Created and shown in tandem with the film are a series of mixed-media works by the artist.

A film screening and artist talk takes place Aug. 18 with a reception at 6 p.m., film screening at 6:30 p.m., and artist talk at 7:30 p.m.

Jonathan Bouknight is the Working Artist Project Winner 2014/2015.
